Bacon Hot Sauce - BBQ Chicken

Oink - Oink -Sizzle - Oink... The package showed up last night and I was so excited to check it out.  If you are a fan of bacon and hot sauce, this sauce is a dream come true.

Nice one DK, this was a great find!

Think about it?  Smokey bacon and hot sauce, married together in a convenient package without the fat. Which is stated and sold as Vegetarian, Vegan and Kosher.  Brilliant!  Not that I’m concerned about the V, V and K as much as I’m amazed at the flavor and versatility.

Aunty Audrey's Bacon & Ham Chowder

Last night when I got home from work my youngest daughter asked me to make “That potato soup with the ham and bacon”. I was sure that I had already blogged on it and attempted to pull it up on my blog when I discovered that I had not.

So, here’s the story about this soup…

My mom’s sister Audrey wasn’t known for her culinary talents but there was one soup that she made that was truly memorable.

Hawaiian Style Slow Cooker Baked Beans

I make baked beans once a year and it is usually for the first BBQ of the season.  The one thing that defines our family BBQ’s is a big pot of sweet and savory Hawaiian inspired baked beans with Portuguese sausage, better known as Linguica outside of Hawaii.

Bacon Lovers Meatloaf

My daughter and I were watching a movie and they were making sarcastic remarks about meatloaf.  She turned to me and said, “What’s wrong with meatloaf?  I love meatloaf! Ha, ha.  I don’t get it either.  Meatloaf is always a crowd pleaser at my house and never gets boring because it can be changed up in so many ways.

Spinach Salad with Warm Bacon Dressing

My husband loves traditional old school spinach salad with warm bacon dressing. Steak House spinach salad that was prepared for you at your table-side. It's almost impossible to find these days.

What has replaced it is a cold version of what it was meant to be and served with "your choice of dressing." What? no, It should be served with warm bacon dressing!

Oven Bacon

Eating bacon is pure pleasure.

Cooking bacon is always a messy chore.
Grease splattered stove, counter tops and floors.
Really is bacon worth it?  Absolutely!

Spaghetti Alla Carbonara

I just attended a Mario Batali cooking demonstration which was very informative about how to THINK about Italian cooking. His methods and techniques that he shared were invaluable. I will definitely think differently when cooking an Italian meal. His words of wisdom were to always use the freshest ingredients you can find (which can be difficult in my small town), be a minimalist and keep it simple, that more is only more not better especially when it comes to the cheese and most importantly, a recipe is simply a guide that is meant to be adjusted to your own personal taste.

My local grocer had bone in chicken breast on sale for $1 a pound. How could I resist?

And yes, I did buy extra to toss in the freezer.
