Flat Iron Steak

I can’t be the only one who has this question.

What the heck is flat iron steak and how do you cook it?  That’s what I asked myself the first time I saw it at the meat counter, which made me wonder… Why didn’t the cows have this part when I was growing up?  It was time to find out more about this new found cut.

Trader Joe's Mini Croissants

Trader Joe’s does it again!  You know how the picture on the box always looks better than what you get inside?  Well, after these are proofed and baked.  They look exactly like the picture!

Broccolette

Broccoli's relative?  One we like or don't like?
Hummm, only one way to find out...
Have you seen this product on your grocers shelf?
This was a new one for me.
When I spotted it.  I quietly asked myself, "What the heck is broccolette?
The package read "A sweet and tender relative of broccoli".  A relative?
I guess we are marketing our vegetables through relations these days,
what happened to individuality?
Was this a good thing or a bad thing?

Grisbi "Lemon & Ginseng Cream" Cookies

I don't usually buy or encourage others to indulge in store bought cookies because they are usually disappointing.

My opinion has officially changed, at least for one cookie, and that cookie is the Grisbi “Lemon & Ginseng Cream” cookie.

TJ's Tahini Sauce Hummus

I was strolling through the cold section of Trader Joes and discovered next to their vast selection of hummus, a container of TJ’s Tahini Sauce.  The main ingredient was tahini which was appropriate, followed by lemon juice, water, garlic and salt.

Hummm… tahini ready to go in a sauce format.  If that doesn’t wake up your Middle Eastern taste buds, what will?  A touch of tomato paste, cumin and fresh parsley was all it needed to be the perfect topping for falafel.

Bread in a Can?

My friend Dave asked me if I have ever had bread in a can.  My response was, No, and that I had never heard of it.  I laughed at the thought and never considered investigating it myself.  The next thing I knew, I had a box of canned bread sitting at my front door.  Thanks Dave, new things keep life interesting.

How to Cook Pasta in a Frying Pan

WATCH THE VIDEO
My friend Dave sent me this video that showed me how to cook pasta in a frying pan.  I liked the idea immensely, mostly because I didn't have to wait for the giant pot of water to boil or clean it afterwards.

It looked too good to be true.  How could this possibly work?  Wont the pasta be too starchy or gummy?
