Getting to New York City from Eugene Oregon

EUGENE,OREGON

In a couple of days our daughter Cecily will be graduating with honors from Barnard College in NYC and we are excited to witness this momentous event. All the plans have been made and we will be there in time to join her for dinner.

It didn’t work out quite that way.

If you have ever traveled through the Denver airport on United you already know that it’s a massive concourse that is ridiculously long. United will drop you off at gate 84 and have you walk 15 – 20 minutes to your connecting flight at gate 23, visa versa on your return flight, so be prepared if you are on United and have a connection.

It took 2 planes as expected, an extremely rude and unreasonable ticket agent who wouldn’t let us on the plane, even though the plane was still there loading stand by passengers and luggage, a series of apologetic supervisors, a so called missed flight and an unexpected 7 hour layover in Denver to get there. But we made it eventually.

Traveling is a bitch! The process of getting from one place to the next is what we need to do to get to new and exciting places. Sometimes it goes exactly as planned and other times it doesn’t.

With a lot of time spent at the customer service counter repeating the same story over and over again, we finally got booked on another flight and into NYC just in time for bed.
Luckily, we were in NYC and dinner at 11:30pm wasn’t uncommon.
