Crispix Cereal Mix

PRINT RECIPE
Our nephew Jared from California stopped by for a visit and brought us a bag of his mom’s homemade Crispix cereal mix. The cereal was lightly coated with a simple mixture of honey & butter and tossed with nuts and cranberries. It was sweet but not too sweet with a buttery finish that blended well with the tart cranberries. Its one of those snacks that you start off with a handful and find yourself going back for another.
Diane shared the recipe with a bit of advice.
To control the sweetness cut the butter and honey mixture to 1/3 cup each and it will be enough for a light coating. If you want your mix to have a few clusters of cereal, nuts and cranberries add the whole recipe of butter and honey. It all depends on your personal taste.
And if you want to add a touch of savory to the mix stir in a tsp. of Worcestershire and about ¼ tsp. of garlic salt to the butter mixture before pouring over the cereal. Salty and Sweet is always a great match.

CRISPIX MIX
1-12 oz box Crispix
1 to 1-1/2 cups cranberries* (or 1 pkg Craisins)
2 cups pecan halves (or pieces)*
1/2 c butter or margarine
1/2 c honey

Combine cereal, cranberries and pecans in a large bowl; set aside.
In a small saucepan, melt butter; stir in honey until well blended.
Pour butter and honey over cereal mixture until coated, stirring gently.
Spread out on two greased 15x10x2 in sheet pans.
Bake at 350 for 12-15 min. or until mixture is lightly glazed, stirring occasionally. (I stir, then turn the pans, switching upper/ lower racks.)
Cool in pan for 3 mins; remove from pan and spread on waxed or parchment paper to cool completely.
