Sausage Stuffing

PRINT RECIPE

Sausage stuffing is my family’s favorite which is great because it is so easy to make.
I have attempted many other stuffing’s over the years but it’s the quick and easy sausage stuffing that gets the raves.  Even if I feel a little creative and make another stuffing I always make sure that there is also a casserole of sausage stuffing to go along with it.

SAUSAGE STUFFING
1          pound              pork sausage, country style or Italian
4          stalks               celery, chopped small
1          large                onion, chopped small
½         cup                  butter
1          tsp.                  sugar
1          14 oz. can       chicken broth
12        oz.                   classic seasoned bread crumbs, not the cubes

Heat a large skillet over med-high and brown sausage breaking it up as it cooks.  Add chopped celery, onions, butter and sugar; cook for about 10 minutes or until the onions and celery are very soft.  Add chicken broth and bring to a boil.
Turn off heat and toss in the bread crumbs.
Place in a casserole dish and bake in a 350 degree oven covered for 30 minutes.  Remove cover and bake 5 – 10 minutes more to crisp up the top.

  1. Hi Tony,
Good question. I changed my post to note that both are options and are equally delicious. This year I used country pork sausage.

  2. I was actually thinking about using your recipe for stuffed peppers, sounds good in my head.

  3. That sounds wonderful. I have used this stuffing to stuff mushroom caps sprinkled with parmesan cheese but never peppers. Good idea.
